Bob's "Pandy's Picks" are legendary among savvy New York
thoroughbred and harness players, and his record at the Southern California
flat tracks the past few years is amazing. Are you tired of the same old
Southern California handicappers, how about a new and refreshing view from a
proven winner.
BOB'S WAGERING SUGGESTIONS
I provide 3 or 4 picks per race, and an odds line. The odds that I list is not
based on the morning line. These odds are my estimate of the horse's chances of
winning. You can use these odds to spot good-value bets. For instance, let's
say that my top pick is 5-2, my 2nd choice is 7-2, my third choice is 4-1. You
can check the odds a few minutes before post time. Suppose that my top pick is
8-5, my 2nd choice is 6-1, and my third choice is 7-2. In this scenario, my 2nd
choice (7-2 on my line), is going off at 6-1 and is good value. Generally, any
horse that goes off at 25% or more above my "fair odds" line is probably a nice
overlay.
I also list certain horses as LS, which stands for Live Longshots. These are
horses that I think have a chance to finish first or second at a price. These
are not guesses. My LIVE LONGSHOTS are based on factors and patterns which have
produced winning longshots in the past. Usually these horses are not the
morning line favorite. These Live Longshots only win about 18% of the time but
they have produced a flat bet profit this year because several have won at big
prices, the highest being $63.00 (Santa Anita).
As for exactas and other exotics, it depends on your bankroll. I like exactas
but I rarely bet more than 3 or 4 combinations unless my top 3 picks are all
longshots, in which case I'll box. Other bets like trifectas and superfectas
can be excellent bets if you can afford to lose before winning (these are
high-risk bets!).
